New South Wales is a state of breathtaking landscapes, from golden beaches, subtropical rainforests to desert plains and snowy mountains. It is also home to Australia's largest city, Sydney. As the most multicultural city in the Asia Pacific, Sydney's cultural diversity has produced a society that is creative, open and friendly.
Half the population of the state lives in the capital which is a global economic centre. It's also renowned for it's beauty and famous landmarks including Sydney Harbour, Sydney Opera House and Bondi Beach.
But don’t treat New South Wales simply as an excuse to enjoy modern urban life in Sydney. Within easy reach of the city are the Blue Mountains, the Hunter Valley and Port Stephen, a little further away are the coastal towns of Coff’s Harbour and Byron Bay – inland to Broken Hill and south to Wollongong and on to the Snowy Mountains.
