What type of accounts are there?
Generally, there are three types of bank accounts available in Australia: Transaction Accounts, Savings Accounts and Basic Accounts.
- Transaction Accounts are typically designed to cover day-to-day banking needs. They give you a place to deposit regular payments and an account to use when paying bills or doing the shopping.
- Savings Accounts are designed to help you save money, with some accounts providing specific incentives to save. For example, you may be rewarded with higher interest if you maintain a balance above a certain level for a given period. Others may allow you to opt out of having ATM access to make it a little bit harder to spend your money, and therefore make it more likely that you’ll save instead.
- Basic Accounts provide fee-free and low-cost accounts for low-income customers such as pensioners or those with concession rights.
How do I get one?

Our Australian Bank Account is available as either a single or joint account and can be purchased as individually or as part of the FastrackOZ Starter Pack.
To apply for your new account, all you need to do is provide:
- Your completed and signed application form
- Original UK Utility Bill – with your name/s, current address and no more than 3 months old. This can be a gas, electricity, home phone (not mobile), water or council tax utility bill.
- Original UK Bank/Building Society Statement – with your name/s, current address and no more than 3 months old.
- Certified Photocopy of your Passport/s – information page including photo, signature and Visa (if approved).
- Certified Photocopy of Driving Licence/s – additional requirement for NON-UK residents only.
After we receive your application you’ll receive your account numbers 5-10 business days later. Easy as that!
